There were times when my parents came to visit and didn’t stay the night because all our guest beds were mattresses on the floor, which would be rather uncomfortable for my mother who has backache. But not since we got the Intex Raised Downy Queen Airbed with Built-in Electric Pump.

This air mattress is very easy to get into because it is raised from the floor like the normal bed. My mom loves it because it has dual chambers – the bottom one is firmer and supports the whole thing, while the top one is soft and comfy. Once fitted with sheets, this air bed is just like any normal bed.
In fact we never roll up this air bed and keep it in the closet, but just leave it like a permanent bed in our spare room. Sometimes when I need an afternoon nap, I’ll use this Intex Raised Downy Queen Airbed with Built-in Electric Pump instead of my own bed because it’s so comfortable!
Built-in Pump
The built-in pump is a nice touch. It’s very easy to set up, just roll it out flat (with the right side up), plug it in and flip on the switch. Then watch it fill up with air in about 3 minutes. Oh, you don’t have to watch it, you can do other stuff and come back later. 
And of course, with a built-in pump, you can add in or let out air as you like to adjust the firmness of the bed.

The only thing I didn’t like about it is the color, but I have bed sheets on it all the time so that makes no difference.

Comfort
The material is a coil construction with velvety surface that is nice to sleep on without sheets. I still like to put sheets on it when using indoors to keep it clean. It is available in twin size and queen size, both fit standard size sheets. It’s very comfortable to sleep on and the firmness can be adjusted by just a turn of the switch.
Portability
The AeroBed Guest Choice Air Bed rolls up really small and you can put it back into the bag easily. We’ve used this air mattress for traveling and it sure beats most of the spare beds our hosts provide us!
Ease of Use
This air mattress inflates and deflates super quick! I’ve never seen any other air mattresses that deflates as quickly as this one – 15 seconds! The inflation is slightly longer but still faster than any other. It’s easy to do it too, just turn the switch and you’re done.
Price
The price is reasonable, slightly higher if you compare to Intex air mattresses, but I think Aerobed Guest Choice Air Bed is a notch above Intex air beds in comfort, portability and ease of use, so I gladly paid for the difference.
I’ve been rather lucky in my purchases of air mattresses; I don’t often have to return them. We bought two twin size Aerobed Guest Choice Air Bed (two years ago) which arrived in perfect condition and they’ve lasted us till now.
If you’re worried about getting a damaged air mattress (air mattresses are quite prone to leaks, it stands to reason), try to buy from some company that would gladly take returns without questions asked, and much preferably bear the return shipping costs as well. I myself always buy from Amazon and try the air mattress out as soon as it arrives, so that I can return it immediately if there’s any leak in it.

Cheap!
I think the most attractive thing about this twin sized air mattress is its price. Where can you get a decent upgrade from the bare ground for $20? Not even the Coleman is as cheap as this, considering that the Coleman is slightly more comfortable. But if you go camping like once in a blue moon and you are just looking for a sleeping option at the cheapest price possible, this is the best choice.
The 20-gauge flocked waterproof top is strong enough to take the weight of a big adult man and keep away the cold and moisture. But that also means that the air mattress is heavier when it is deflated and rolled up.
The included pump works well, but drains batteries pretty quick. If you are out in the middle of nowhere with this air mattress and pump, you’d better keep some spare batteries with you, or a spare pump. The valve needs a bit of understanding, but once you’ve got it, everything is easy.
No Bag
The one thing that I think defeats its purpose as a portable air mattress is that it doesn’t include a bag! But for such a price, I guess nobody can complain much. You can always wrap it in the tent or pack it nicely in the luggage so that it doesn’t get ripped.

Comfortable Enough
There are people who bought this as a permanent bed (wow…) because they thought it worked just as well. I’d say it really isn’t as comfortable as the real bed, it’s an air mattress after all, but it’s comfortable enough to sleep on for a few days.

I’ve never had to refill the air mattress with air when I use it, but the longest I’ve ever slept on it without deflating it is one week. That was the first week when I bought it from Amazon. If you need a cot to go with the air mattress when out camping, you can get a better price for a whole set instead of buying the cot and air mattress separately. The Coleman Trailhead SpaceSaver Air Bed is the best air mattress with frame/cot set I found.

We bought this for our kid to use in our camping trips because she didn’t feel safe sleeping on the air mattress placed on the floor. The Coleman Trailhead SpaceSaver Air Bed is a combination of air mattress and cot that can be separated whenever necessary.
Coleman has some other (smaller) sizes with lower prices, but I chose this size – 30″ x 80″, in hopes that a larger size will be able to withstand more weight and can be used by other taller people when occasion arises.
Lightweight and Easy to Store Away
I love the fact that it is very lightweight and portable. We go camping whenever there is a chance so it’s nice to pack up quickly and go. This air mattress comes with a carry bag and the aluminum frame folds up compactly, so easy to keep in the closet when not in use and bring to the car when we go camping.
The air mattress is not self-inflatable, so we use an electric pump to inflate it. A manual pump would do as well. I’ve tried sleeping in it and it’s pretty comfortable once you got the right firmness.
At first I was a bit doubtful that the frame would support a grown person since it was so light, but it didn’t fall into a crumple or even move around when I got onto it, so I guess it is sturdy enough. I’m not exactly petite, though not too big. The mattress is a bit narrow, military-style, so if you’re the sort who twist and turn a lot in sleep, you might have second thoughts about buying this.
What’s Not Good
When this set is fully put up or fully folded down, I have no complains about it. The troublesome part is setting it up, the notches are a bit tight. I knew this from other reviews I read before buying this but decided to give it a try anyway. A bit of practice does it; and I think this probably lends to the sturdiness of the frame, so I’m not complaining too much.
In all, the Coleman Trailhead SpaceSaver Air Bed is a good set of air mattress with cot, and you can save $20 – $100 compared to getting separate air mattress and cot.

What I like most about this air bed is the price. For a raised air mattress with built-in electric pump, this is really cheap. We don’t often have house guests, but when someone does come, there will be a need for an extra bed, so I didn’t want to spend a load on bedding that will sit in the storage for most of the time.
I was wondering if I’d ever find a raised mattress that costs as little as flat ones, and yet isn’t too bad in quality. This Intex Pillow Rest Twin Airbed with Built-in Electric Pump really came as a surprise.
Of course, I’d knew that Intex air mattresses usually cost less than Aerobed ones, although both being the leading brands in air mattress, but I didn’t expect this to have a built-in pump as well. That means you’d save another $10 for a cheap pump.
Inflates Within 3 Minutes
The pump works well getting the air bed inflated within 3 minutes. You can use the pump to deflate it as well.
Because the inflating motor is inside the bed itself, some people complained that it gets in the way when you fold it up to fit into the carry bag. But I wasn’t going to carry it anywhere so I just fold it loosely and throw it into the closet. If I can give a tip here, raised air mattresses are more suitable for guest beds than camping beds, so if you’re looking for more portable air mattresses, I suggest you get the AeroBed® Guest Choice Air Bed, Simply Sleeper Queen Air Bed, or the Coleman Trailhead SpaceSaver Air Bed.
Leak Issue
I did read the mountains of reviews for this air bed before buying it. There were plenty of people who got their Intex Pillow Rest Twin Airbed with Built-in Electric Pump with a leak issue, but a lot of them got it perfectly fine too.
The conclusion I get from this is: air mattresses have a possibility of getting torn or punctured. It’s all a matter of luck. So if you’re getting this air bed, I suggest you get it from Amazon. They have a wonderful return and replacement policy, with no return shipping costs, so you can test it out for the first few days you receive it, and get a free replacement if you unfortunately got one with a leak.

I like this Coleman Double-Sized Quickbed! A friend chose this over the 4-in-1 Quickbed because this came with a separate electric pump and he didn’t need the versatility. He bought it for his camp trips with his girlfriend and claimed that it was $45 well-spent.

Very Firm
They joined my husband and I in one of our camp trips and I saw that the Coleman Double-Sized Quickbed is quite like the 4-in-1 Quickbed except for its color. It inflates reasonably fast – in about 3 minutes – and once inflated, it is very comfortable and sturdy. The coils make the air mattress firm and good for people with back ache to sleep on.
The top surface of this air mattress is a soft suede while the bottom is PVC that keeps away dirt and moisture. Perfect for camping! I think it is comfortable enough to sleep without sheets on, but it will fit any standard double size sheet.
The electric pump works well, it gets the air mattress inflated without using good ol’ arm strength, though it is a bit noisy when pumping. It also deflates the air mattress quickly. My friend takes the batteries out of the pump when he’s not using it because he found that they dry out quickly.
Compact for Two
Actually this air mattress is rather compact if you’re used to queen sized or king sized beds. Two lean people can sleep comfortably on this air mattress but it could be a tighter fit for bigger people. My friend is quite big and muscular but his girlfriend is so petite that this air mattress is just the right size.
Coleman Double-Sized Quickbed is such a bargain. For such a price, you can’t even get an Aerobed, not to say you can also use the electric pump for other air mattresses. So even if this air mattress didn’t last out (we popped quite a few air mattresses over the years, but Coleman held up well) you’d still have the pump.

Some of my friends loved air mattresses so much that they decided to use raised air mattresses as regular beds. Well, there are only a couple of reasons I don’t, and one of them is that my regular bed is still lasting me out and I’m not the sort to throw stuff out unless they are beyond repair.

Doesn’t Wobble!
Well, if you like to use an air bed regularly, consider the Intex Supreme Air-Flow Queen Airbed. I’ve slept in this air bed at my best friend’s place for a few days, and it’s pretty comfortable. It is designed with multiple channels so that it has a firm surface. So no matter you are sleeping on one side, near the edge or in the middle of the bed, it stays firm and flat. That’s what makes it so comfortable!
And Joel E. Stevens, a reviewer mentioned this feature that I agree is a nice one:
“Another nice feature not readily known or stated is that the bed has a channel all the way around between the two sections that allow you to actually tuck in a sheet, with a larger gap at the corners. A very nice feature that should be noted.“
Quiet Pump
The built in electric pump is super easy to use and very quiet. To inflate the air bed, turn the dial to one side, and turn it to the other side if you want to deflate it. You can also adjust the firmness of the air bed by an easy to reach button, though adding a handheld remote control would be a nice touch.
Smaller than Queen
The one major complaint by most reviewers on the Intex Supreme Air-Flow Queen Airbed is that it is not a true Queen size! The measurements given were larger than the air bed really is, and this is more of a large double bed. I didn’t measure my friend’s air bed, but another user gave the measurement as 77″ x 56″.
If you think the size is good for you, get the Intex Supreme Air-Flow Queen Airbed Nylon Flocked. Intex priced this air mattress economically as always. If you’re using this as a regular bed, it might be wise to invest in a memory foam pad as well.

Intex has another raised twin air mattress, the Intex Deluxe Pillow Rest Rising Comfort Twin which is almost identical with the budget twin air mattress the Intex Pillow Rest Twin Airbed. When I say identical, I mean the features.

Built-in pillow
The built-in pillow is a raised edge on the mattress. Half the users loved it, half of them hated it. Those who loved it say that it’s much better than having your own pillow that slips off the mattress at every opportunity. A fixed pillow isn’t going anywhere. Those who hated it say the built-in pillow is a hard bump that is uncomfortable. Some say that it is raised too high and puts strain on the neck.
I had the other version and it wasn’t too bad, but since I’m not very tall I can always sleep lower down the air bed if I felt like it.
The built-in electric pump inflates the air mattress in no time and keeps the air in for a few days before you have to add more air. It’s great as a guest bed for the elderly who come to visit for a few days because its raised height means that it’s easier to get in and out of.
So what’s different besides the price?
This Deluxe version of the twin air mattress is about $50 compared to the budget version which is below $40. More than $10 difference and the features are similar: built-in electric pump, 15-gauge vinyl beams, waterproof flocked top and all that for good stability and comfort, so what’s the difference? The answer seems to be its looks. The Deluxe looks a lot better. Looks like a quality air mattress compared to the color of the other one, even though it is built the same.
Would I recommend the Intex Deluxe Pillow Rest Rising Comfort Twin? Yes, it’s basically good, but if you’re budget conscious and don’t mind the appearance, get the Intex Pillow Rest Twin Airbed instead.

Adjustable length
The length of this air mattress is just right to fit most SUVs like Tahoe, Suburban, Xterra, Explorer, Trailblazer, Honda Element, 4Runner, and Dodge Durango. But if you have a shorter space, this air mattress can also be filled up partially because it has separate chambers – one long and one short one.
“I really liked the fact that you can adjust the length. I have a Mazda5 and so needed to leave it shorter to avoid closing it in the door and popping it like the last mattress.” – Angie, at Amazon.
As for the width, it’s more or less like a twin sized bed so it won’t fill up the whole back of the SUV, but it’s wide enough for one adult, and about as comfortable as any air mattress.
This air mattress is also great for tent camping because the bottom plastic surface keeps away moisture and dirt while you sleep, and is very easy to wipe clean!
Need a Pump
You’ll have to buy a manual pump for this air mattress if you haven’t got one already. But that’s not a big deal because you can get one for as little as $10 – $15. Add that to the price of this Coleman SUV Quickbed and it is not even the price of an Aerobed.
